School-Age ABA Therapy in New Hampshire

School brings new challenges. Our program helps elementary and middle school students with academics, peer relationships, and self-regulation—with flexible after-school scheduling. We know that by the time your child finishes a long school day, they might be exhausted. That's why our sessions aren't just "more school." We use fun, interest-based activities to work on hard skills like social decoding, frustration tolerance, and organization, helping them succeed in the classroom without burning out at home.

Flexible Scheduling

  • After-school sessions (3pm-7pm)
  • Weekend availability
  • School break intensive options
  • Coordination with school IEP

Supporting the Whole Student (Ages 6-12)

As children enter elementary school, the social and academic demands increase significantly. For autistic children, this transition can bring new challenges related to executive function, social navigation, and emotional regulation. Our school-age ABA program is designed to support your child's success both in the classroom and on the playground, without overwhelming their schedule.

We recognize that school days are long. That's why our after-school sessions are focused on high-value, practical skills rather than repetitive drilling. We work on "learning how to learn"—organization, time management, and self-advocacy. Can your child pack their own backpack? Can they ask a teacher for help when stuck? Can they navigate a conflict with a peer during recess? These are the real-world skills we target.

Social skills instruction becomes more nuanced at this age. We move beyond simple turn-taking to understanding distinct social rules, decoding non-verbal cues, and maintaining conversations on non-preferred topics. We also place a strong emphasis on self-regulation and coping strategies, helping children identify their emotions and use appropriate tools to manage frustration or anxiety before it escalates. We collaborate with your school team to ensure that strategies working in therapy are supported in the classroom (and vice versa).

School-Age & After-School Questions

My child is tired after school. Is therapy too much?

It's a valid concern. We carefully design after-school sessions to differ from the school environment. We incorporate movement breaks, snacks, and special interests (like Minecraft, Lego, or drawing) into therapy. If your child needs a "decompression" period before starting, we build that in. Our goal is support, not exhaustion.

Can you help with homework refusal?

Yes. Homework battles are often about executive function (not knowing where to start) or anxiety (fear of failure). We break assignments down into manageable chunks, use visual schedules, and create reinforcement systems to make homework less painful and more independent.

Do you attend IEP meetings?

We can! With your permission, our BCBAs can collaborate with your school team, review IEP goals, and advocate for appropriate accommodations. Consistency between school and home is the fastest way to see progress.
