About the Childhood Autism Spectrum Test (CAST)

The CAST questionnaire (formerly the Childhood Asperger Syndrome Test) was developed by the Autism Research Centre at the University of Cambridge. It is specifically designed for autism cast testing in children aged 4 to 11 years in a mainstream school setting.

This 39-item yes/no test helps identify children who may have undiagnosed autism spectrum conditions. It focuses on social skills, communication, and restricted interests. While valuable for early detection of milder forms of autism or Asperger's syndrome, it is a screening tool, not a diagnostic instrument.
